"Joe" Cheek, 87, of Sandusky and formerly of Castalia, passed away Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, at his home surrounded by the love of his family.He was born June 4, 1937, in South Webster, Ohio. Due to the Great Depression, the family moved from southern Ohio to Bellevue, where his father found work on a farm. Joe was a 1956 graduate of Margaretta High School and served in Ohio National Guard. He married the love of his life, Carolyn Bowsher, on May 3, 1958. Joe was a hard worker and in his early years, he worked at Castalia Blue Hole, Castalia Elevator, and Farrell-Cheek Foundry. He retired in 1995 from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of dedicated service. In his retirement years, he worked at Truck Sales and Service and North Ohio Trucking Company. Joe enjoyed mowing grass, working in his yard, and spending time in his shop.Joe was a faithful member of Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene and spent many years as a ser
